Concept of Politics

          According to Aduradola and Chris (2013), politics is defined as a planned activities associated with the governance of a country or area, especially the debate between parties having power”. Dokpesi (2006:16) sees politics as “the struggle for power and political applicant power”.

          Akamere (2003), “politics can be said to do with the distribution of resources and privileges among members of a political community”. In every society, be it village or city, resources, valuable resources exist. And there is always a continuous competition among individuals over who should direct the distribution of these resources as well as when and how it should be distributed. The competition (or call it the struggle for the distribution of the public values) in addition to the manoeuvres and intrigues involved in it constitutes what we mean by politics.

          From the definitions above we can deduce that politics is the human nature of trying to lead or direct people in a given environment. Human beings have a passion for controlling their environment. In fact this could have been what prompted the renowned philosopher Aristotle (in the oxford concise dictionary of politics (1996) to state that man is a political animal. By this, he means that every man is born with the tendency to lead and direct the world. It is inborn in every man even when it has not yet manifested it.
